    WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Christina Beck, a 1980 graduate of Warsaw Community High School, recently completed a doctor of philosophy degree with a major in communication at the University of Oklahoma.

In recognition of her 4.0 grade point average, Beck also earned membership in the interdisciplinary honor society of Phi Kappa Phi.

    R. Mark Royce, a registered nurse and night nursing supervisor at Murphy Medical Center, will assume the post of county emergency medical service (EMS) coordinator May 1.

County Commissioners Fredrick Gilliam, Maurice Dorsey and Gerald Smalley appointed Royce to the new position.

    A double-feature movie proved too much for young Bill Dederick, son of local florist Forrest Dederick.

Mr. Dederick confronted local police at 12:10 a.m. Thursday stating that his youngest son, Bill, had gone to the movies and hadn't returned home. The boys he went with were all home in bed, Dederick said. Nick Mallers, operator of the Centennial Theater was located, and a search disclosed Bill fast asleep in his seat.

    Mrs. Glen Dufur, Warsaw, will broadcast Friday from station WOWO at Fort Wayne. She will appear in a number of vocal solos accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Tom J. Nye. The program will begin at 12:30 in the afternoon.
