    Stacie Barth, Leesburg, recently served as a page for Rep. Dave Wolkins, R-Winona Lake. She was excused from school for one day to help deliver messages for the representatives, as well as to perform clerical duties. The Lakeview Middle School student is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barth Jr.

    COLUMBIA CITY - Dennis Spearman and Jerry Rhodes seemed to concentrate on the second of their two strong events as both set Wawasee school track records.

Spearman came up with a :15.1 clocking in the high hurdles, breaking his own school record set earlier this year of :15.2, and Rhodes managed a 57-4 heave in the shot put, bettering his 56-11 effort also set earlier this season.

    Members of the Warsaw High School speech team won first place in the sixth annual Howe Military School invitational speech contest.

Team members are Bess Mallers, Sue Knight, Gyln Schmitt, Carolyn Boyer, Marjorie Howard, Bob Keough, Cloyde Dye Jr., Jesse Deloe, Bob Williams and Dick Wilson. Mrs. Herbert Petrie is director of speech activities and team coach.

    Luck was with the boys of the North Manchester track team for it was only by the toss of a coin that Manchester was declared the winner. South Whitley and North Manchester each had the same number of points at the end of the contest, and a coin was tossed to determine whose day it was.
