    BOURBON - Shannon Gochenour, Bourbon, has been selected as the 1992 outstanding student, bachelor of science in criminal justice, at Indiana University, South Bend.

She is the daughter of Loren and Marilyn Gochenour, Bourbon, and a 1988 graduate of Triton High School.

    Charles and Betty Cone were honored by the Pierceton Community Chamber of Commerce as the "Outstanding Citizens" for 1977. It was the first time that a dual award has been presented. The Cones, parents of five grown children, were cited for their many civic and church endeavors.

    Recently Bill Craig, a farmer of the Akron community, was surprised by a friendly, unafraid rat. He had been feeding nine cats to take care of the rat problem. After giving his cats their milk one evening he noticed the rat, which joined the cats and helped himself to some milk.

    Edna Stevens senior in the Warsaw High School and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stevens of 736 E. Fort Wayne St., was winner in the county oratorical contest held at the Warsaw High School. She spoke on the subject "Hamilton and the Constitution." Stevens was awarded $25.
