    Boy Scouts Andy Smith, Andy Crisp and Mike Caudill have completed their individual community service projects that are required to become Eagle Scouts.

The Scouts are members of Troops 715 and 770, and their scoutmaster is Dick McCleary.

    SOUTH WHITLEY - Whitko's Curt Duggins and Jill Eberly were winners of the 1979 Mr. and Miss Whitley County Basketball contest. The contest was sponsored by radio station WFDT, Columbia City, and the American Cancer Society.

Duggins is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Duggins, and Eberly is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Eberly.

    The Burket High School Hawks are the newly-crowned Kosciusko County volleyball champions, having won the tournament held at Leesburg. Coached by Vernon Campbell, team members include Perry Hathaway, Mike Nelson, Riley Richardson, Dick Lynch, Doyle Heckaman, Archie Leckrone, Jerry Nelson, Frank Swick and Bob Brown.

    The McDonald Hospital has received high honor recognition from the National Hospital Council at Baltimore, Md. This recognition was accorded after inspectors had visited all hospitals in the United States.

The hospital here is very sanitary, has excellent operating and obstetric facilities, a highly recognized staff of surgeons and a good record.
