While mushrooming recently in a southern Indiana state forest, Kosciusko County Auditor Jean Northenor stepped within a few feet of a large snake. Wedged against a tree, she couldn't move away so she screamed for husband, Jim. Realizing he couldn't hear her, she whipped out her .38 handgun, fired two shots and the raised, hissing reptile took two more before it was killed. Jean credits Jim for teaching her to shoot. It was reported the snake was a copperhead. This also makes Northenor "the fastest gun in the court house"!
