Betty Ellison of Warsaw has been chosen to represent the United States as an attache for the country of Belize (formerly British Honduras) in the Pan Am Games this August. Ellison retired in 1981 with 20 years as a Spanish teacher at Warsaw High School behind her.
Joe Brown, son of Lt. and Mrs. Eugene Brown of the Warsaw Police Department, has been selected by the Warsaw Kiwanis Club to attend the third annual State Police Career Camp. The youth is a sophomore at Warsaw Community High School.
University scholarships have been awarded to Norma Faye Early and Harold Rhoades, seniors at Pierceton High School. Miss Early captured a Purdue scholarship for the 1947-48 school year and Jack Ross was named as her alternate. A merit scholarship to Indiana University went to Harold Rhoades.
When Almon Gerard attempted to drive his car through some three to four feet of water under the Pennsylvania railroad viaduct on West Market Street this noon, his car became stranded. Gerard was marooned there for some time while a rescue party came to his aid.
