April 28 1995

    Several Warsaw Community High School students won awards for their work in the Scholastic Arts Awards Contest, held recently in South Bend Century Center's Warner Gallery.

Among them are Mary Barr, a senior art major, won a gold key award for her hand-crafted and design book that utilizes advanced printmaking combined with intricate paper (pop-up) techniques, and Eric Fletcher,a sophomore, won a silver key for his black cut cardboard construction in the sculpture category.

    MUNCIE - Two Kosciusko County students at Ball State University have been elected officers of Epsilon Xi chapter of Delta Sigma Pi professional business fraternity.

They are Eileen J. Harbes, Syracuse, and Thomas R. Burns, Warsaw.

50 Years Ago

April 28 1955

    Art Johnson, of Warsaw, won the feature 25-lap stock car race Sunday afternoon at the Shady Bowl Speedway, Degraff, Ohio.

Johnson, a consistent winner in the summer stock car races at the county fairgrounds in Warsaw, also won the first heat race at Degraff. Race drivers from Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana competed.

    The town of Milford has added 55 persons in the past ten years, according to the 1930 census, which has placed the preliminary figure at 866 as compared to 811 in 1920.
