    Wawasee High School senior Mike Beezley won first place in the senior division of editorial cartooning at the media merit-thon, which was held at Indiana-Purdue University at Indianapolis.

Beezley chose the corporal punishment theme for his award-winning cartoon. Contestants had 1-1/2 hours to complete their editorial cartoons.

    Garry A. Valentine was recently promoted to Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. Garry is presently stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He is assigned to the Motor Transport Pool, where he is Shop Chief. Garry enlisted in the Marine Corps in February 1976 in Warsaw. Garry is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Valentine of North Webster.

April 27 1952

    Dale Tripp and Sam Neher, both of Warsaw, last night won the annual domino tourney held at Breading's Cigar Store. They defeated Ben Detterman and Louis "Peanuts" Breading, 11 games to nine, in the championship round after being down six games to one.

The tourney attracted 65 players, comprising 32 teams.

    An interesting special meeting was held at the Christian Church, called mother and daughter meeting. The mother and daughter bearing the closest resemblance to each other received the gift of a beautiful bouquet of 12 carnations. Mrs. Lloyd Duncan and daughter Joann were the prize winners.
