    MENTONE - Gregg Sciarra was named to replace Bob DuBois as Tippecanoe Valley High School's boys basketball coach at a special session of the school board.

While the position and title are new for Sciarra, he is not a new face for those involved with Tippecanoe Valley basketball. For the past two seasons he was the varsity assistant after being elevated from the freshman boys position for four years prior to that move.

April 26 1976

    One of only two class Y3a articulated steam engines left in the world rolled through Warsaw last night (April 21) on the Big Four tracks, and residents lucky enough to have been in town between 7:30 and 10 p.m. may have caught a glimpse of the end of an era in railroading. The engine was in tow, bound for a railroad museum in Union, Ill. The engine was build in 1923 on a United States Railway Administration design. It was built for the Norfolk and Western Railway and was primarily used on trains hauling coal between West Virginia coal fields and the docks at Norfolk.

    Mrs. Ford Hardman, Warsaw, was elected president of the Kosciusko County Federation of clubs at its 33rd annual convention held at the Syracuse Lutheran Church.

Other officers elected were Mrs. Robert English, Pierceton, first vice-president; Mrs. Gordon Brubaker, Sidney, second vice-president; Mrs. Clyde Bair, Leesburg, secretary; Mrs. H.V. Johns, Mentone, treasurer; and Mrs. E.B. Funk, Warsaw, parliamentarian.

    Alan Howard, junior at Purdue University and son of Dr. and Mrs. C.N. Howard, of Warsaw, has been pledged to the Tau Beta Pi fraternity, an honorary fraternity for students.
