Three Pierceton volunteer firemen were honored recently at a dinner at Lilly's Restaurant. Rex Mast retired after 31 years of service and received a plaque, watch and jacket, and Russ England (10 years) and Dean Rhoades (nine years) each received a plaque and watch after resigning.
Dave French, Warsaw, has won the Best of Exhibit award in the sixth annual juried Student Art Exhibit, on display at Grace College Art Gallery. His winning entry, an acrylic painting titled "Old Man," is one of 47 works featured in the display. He is a senior art area major and is the son of Professor and Mrs. Ivan French, 1123 E. Smith St., Warsaw.
Wallace Wolfe, 26, South Columbia Street, has been promoted to the rank of first lieutenant, it was revealed today in a letter from Secretary of the Army Robert Steven received by Capt. Thomas Eaton, commanding officers of Company L, local unit of the national guard. Wolfe serves Company L in the dual capacity of rifle platoon leader and supply officer.
LAFAYETTE - A. J. Morris of Syracuse, a junior in the Purdue University school of agriculture was elected editor-in-chief of the Purdue Agriculturist, a magazine published once a month during the school year by the students of agriculture. Morris is a member of Alpha Gamma Rho, Kappa Phi Sigma, Hoof and Horn, and is a pledge of Sigma Delta Chi and Tau Kappa Alpha.
