    Receiving awards at the April 10 FFA banquet are Ralph Hatfield, Sarah Calhoun, Joy Deatsman, Brandy Brown, Laura Lozier, Jason Shepherd, Brian Deatsman, Jeremiah Polk, Kyle Tom and Craig Hanes.

April 25 1981

    Three local men were honored with 50-year pins and certificates in conjunction with the DeMolay Week, which was held March 15-22. Receiving awards in the Order of DeMolay were Howard E. McCain, initiated at Lafayette in 1937; J. Edward Lambert, initiated at Indianapolis in 1928; and William P. Ramsey, initiated at Jackson, Mo. in 1925.

April 25 1956

    Pat Smith, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith, of Atwood, won first place with her comedy tap dance number in the "Talent Find" contest held Monday night in the women's building at the county fairgrounds.

Bonnie Brouwer, 12, Syracuse, was runner-up with a humorous reading. She is the daughter of Mrs. Orin Smith. Third place winner was Jay Boggs, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Boggs, of Leesburg. He presented a vocal solo.

75 Years Ago

April 25 1931

    Hallie Bortz, of Leesburg, a member of the local chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa sorority, was elected state president of the organization at the closing session of its second biennial convention held in the Claypool Hotel, Indianapolis. Bortz and Arlene Braude attended the convention as delegates from the Warsaw chapter.
