Junior high winners of the Mentone Elementary and Junior High School Science Fair recently competed in the Northeastern Indiana Regional Science Fair at Fort Wayne. Justin Goebel and Chris Tucker received first-place awards at the regional competition. Tucker is currently in Indianapolis competing in the Hoosier Science and Engineering Fair.
Clifford L. Leiter, Bourbon postal clerk, is the recipient of the pride of excellence award for outstanding performance in the South Bend sectional center of the U.S. Postal Service. The award is based on courtesy, helpfulness and outstanding performance. He is now eligible for the district manager's quarterly award.
C. Ralph Hudson has assumed office as field executive of the Pioneer Trails Council Boy Scouts of America. He will have his office in the Area Scout headquarters in Elkhart and will serve all Cub Scout and Senior Scout work in the Goshen and Kosciusko districts. He is a resident of Syracuse.
No movie picture show was given in Pierceton on Sunday evening following resolution of the town board there last week against the Sabbath amusement, which has been conducted in Pierceton for the past two years and which each Sunday drew large crowds from Warsaw and vicinity. Pierceton citizens protested to the town board, which then acted against the movie.
