Ashley Grimm, a first-grader at Eisenhower Elementary, cuddled one of 14 baby chicks brought to Jill Beehler's class as part of a classroom Easter celebration. Cathy Wuthrich of Warsaw provided the chicks for the students to enjoy. Other events included visits from Pat Sisk and Brenda Colonius of DePuy and Craig Norrell of the Times-Union, as well as games and an Easter egg hunt.
Warsaw Community High School basketball star Steve Reed, son of Max and June Reed, signed a national letter of intent to attend Indiana State University. The 6-2 guard is expected to see plenty of action for the Sycamores, who finished this past season with a 25-3 record.
Officers of the Junior Boys 4-H Club, Bourbon, elected recently are Joe Wiedeman, recreation leader; Richard Thacker, vice president; Mac Martin, president; Patricia Banie, secretary-treasurer; Phyllis Cook, reporter; Jean Ann Dinkledein, song leader.
Numerous early mushroom hunters reported excellent "catches" of the springtime delicacies. Leverett Peterson, William "Bood" Bennett and Vern Maish brought home several large messes.
