    A recent collector's edition issue of "Taste of Home" magazine featured an article by Cindy Kolberg of Syracuse. Kolberg, who is a home ec teacher, tells readers of the down-home cooking magazine "how I got my kids to eat broccoli."

In addition to Kolberg, Velma Pinkerton and Harriet Stichter of Milford are listed among Indiana's great country cooks.

    Two Pierceton wrestlers have qualified for the state AAU junior olympics meet May 16-17 at Indianapolis Tech High School by placing in the top three in their divisions of last Saturday's AAU sectional at Mishawaka High School.

Pete Castillo (133 pounds) and Bill Smith (70) each placed second in the qualifier meet.

April 23 1955

    Twenty-one-year-old Marilyn Tuttle, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James O. Tuttle, of near Warsaw, was recently elected vice president of the Indiana University chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha, a campus social sorority.

Marilyn, a university junior, graduated from Pierceton High School in 1951. She is majoring in business administration, but plans a teaching career, and will enroll in a teacher's course next year.

April 23 1930

    Swans at Winona Lake are preparing for annual hatch. Papa and mama swan have been making their nest on the island in the lily pond for the past several weeks and have had baby swan broods there for the past two years. Mama pushes the babies into the water within a few hours after their hatching.
