Scott Baker was one of 31 Wawasee High School seniors who received academic honor rings during induction ceremonies to the new Wawasee Academic Hall of Fame. Principal Ned Speicher and assistant principal Don Kesler made the presentation.
Hundreds of gunny-sacks were donated by the city of Nappanee for the clean-up drive by more than 600 NorthWood students. After each of the 100 trucks covered an assigned area, and all the sacks were filled with trash, the students took the litter to the old Nappanee community dump, leaving behind them a much cleaner countryside.
We notice that rats in increasing number are playing around in the piles of trash left uncollected in East Warsaw. They grow bold and show up in broad daylight, which is supposed to be a sign of plentiful numbers.
Rising over 12 inches since yesterday morning. Center Lake waters, which are overflowing perhaps 500 acres of low lands, were at noon today at the highest mark this year and higher than any time since the flood of the spring of 1913. Today the rising waters spread over the Leesburg-Warsaw road at a point north of the bridge over the Pike lake outlet.
