    Ever felt like you just couldn't get away from work? REMC employee Gary Himes does. It seems last weekend he was called in on a slight emergency repair at the REMC building but when he got inside he couldn't get back out. Himes had locked himself in the building and was forced to call a lineman for help. Does that count as overtime?

April 22 1973

    Kenneth Metzger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Metzger, Rt. 2, Claypool, won third place in a recent statewide machining contest held at Indiana State University at Terre Haute. Kenneth is in his senior year at Warsaw Community High School and last year also was a winner in the beginners' group.

    Syracuse high school baton twirlers made a superb showing in the state contest at North Manchester Saturday. Sasha Ann Hire and Barbara Bowser both won superior ratings in class one, while Mary Jeanette Poyser was judged superior in class two. Jane Bachman won a good rating in class four.

April 22 1923

    Work of excavating for the new Warsaw Daily Times building, opposite the post office here, began today when a big power shovel was placed in position. Contractor Merl Hodges has erected his offices there and hopes to push the work to completion for occupancy by next September. Excavation will be a big job since there will be a basement under the entire building 66-by-88 feet and also under the sidewalks.
