    PROVIDENCE, R.I. - An Akron teen who is planning a career as a chef was first runner-up in the healthful dinner category of the seventh annual National High School Recipe Contest at Johnson & Wales University.

A panel of expert judges named Tippecanoe Valley High School senior Jeremy Sampsel first runner-up for his recipes for blackened swordfish with roasted vegetable salsa, Cajun corn and black bean couscous.

    Brett Welty and Jeremy Kuhn have been chosen as Boys State representatives from Triton.

Welty, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Welty, Etna Green, is a junior at Triton and Kuhn, also a junior at Triton, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Kuhn, Etna Green.

    Milo Clase informs us that not only the people of the south have a southern accent, but also the crows. He says the crow here call out plainly "caw-caw." However, the crows you encounter south of the Mason-Dixon line call out with a souther drawl that sounds more like "aw-aw." Milo are you sure?

    Robert Davis, of Warsaw High School, representing Kosciusko County, tied for third place in the 13th district Discussion League contest, held Tuesday evening at the Elkhart High School.

Six counties were represented in the contest.
