    Jefferson School PTO recently completed its spring fund-raiser in which more than $7,000 was collected. First-place seller was Nathan Edgington and second-place seller was LaTorrie Frantz. Edgington sold 260 candy bars and won a Nintendo Game Boy. Frantz sold 202 candy bars and won a telephone donated by United Telephone.

    The Times-Union Calendar Girl for April is Linda Gillespie, 18, attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Gillespie of 811 E. Main St., Warsaw. Linda is a Warsaw Community High School senior, majoring in the Intensive Business and Office Education course. April is of special significance to Linda because she is counting the days until she will be married to Gary Fribley this summer. "April Fool's Day" found Linda planning to fool many of her friends who are trying to learn of her secret wedding date.

    Estel Bemenderfer, a former state police trooper who served in Kosciusko County, has filed for the Democrat nomination for mayor of Rochester in the May primary election. He will oppose Republican mayor Clarence Hill, who seeks renomination, and Robert W. Shaffer, a former Fulton County clerk.

    Fifty-five years ago today Kosciusko County and Warsaw boys were wearing straw hats and were kicking about barefooted on dusty roads, according to the files of The Northern Indianian. Farmers had done much of their spring plowing.
