    Kris Miller, a 1992 Tippecanoe Valley High School graduate, recently earned All-American swimming honors. A freshman at Vincennes University, Miller obtained All-American status while competing in the NJCAA National Tournament in Fort Pierce, Fla., last month to place fourth in the 800-yard freestyle relay race in a time 7:13.

April 18 1978

    SYRACUSE - A recognition award was presented to Edward Napier, Syracuse, by John T. Shettle, Superintendent of the Indiana State Police, for the "performance of a perfect service to the police."

On Jan. 31, 1978, Napier was approaching the State Bank of Syracuse - Village Drive-In Branch when he observed what appeared to be a holdup in progress, said Shettle, Napier followed the individual, observing him throw his gun away and meeting his accomplice. Napier, without regard for his own personal safety, called for the police on his CB radio while continuing to pursue the bandits.

April 18 1953

    The three-act comedy, "Our Miss Brooks," will be presented by the junior class of Pierceton High School at the school gymnasium. Included in the cast are Kay Kistler, who plays the leading role of Miss Brooks, high school English teacher, Shirley Smith, who plays the part of Doris, a student, Deverl Whitehead, who portrays Mr. Wadsworth, the principal and Fred Hathaway, who portrays Ted, a student.

April 18 1928

    Reno Hamlin Brindley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman G. Brindley, Etna Green, who is employed in the legal department of the Aetna Insurance Co., Chicago, recently was successful in passing the Illinois Bar examinations. He graduated from the Indiana Law School, Indianapolis, and was admitted to the bar in Kosciusko County.
