    Winners of the Redeemer Lutheran School third annual essay contest are, sixth-grader Melissa Letsch, first; sixth-grader Rick Hart, second; and third-grader Christopher Wiggins, third. Students at Redeemer wrote essays about their favorite Bible verses in honor of National Lutheran Schools week. The winners will have their names engraved on a plaque, and they chose books to be donated to the school library in their names.

    Deb Tallman, eighth grade queen, and Mark Brubaker, king, were honored during the annual event at Warsaw Middle School. Deb is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight (Ike) Tallman, of 1106 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw. Mark is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Brubaker, of Claypool. Runners-up are Claudia Kreicker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Kreicker, Springhill Acres, runner-up queen; and Randy Heisler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Heisler, Rt. 1, Claypool, runner-up king.

April 17 1951

    More than half of the top honors at the district speech contest held at Fairmount were awarded to Warsaw High School students. Dean Yarian, Richard Wilson, Lucy Wolfe, Robert Keough, Glyn Schmitt, Bess Mallers and Cloyd Dye Jr. were the high scoring members of the team. Cloyd Dye took a first in both oratorical declamation and panel discussion and second in radio announcing.


75 Years Ago
April 17 1926

    The members of the Bridge Club met at the home of Mrs. Almond Gerard. A delightful evening was spent in playing bridge. The prize was awarded to Mrs. Orville Richer. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess. Club will meet again in two weeks at the home of Mrs. Everett Anglin.
