    Warsaw Community High School graduate Dr. Lee Harman was named the school corporation's new superintendent effective July 1.

Harman has served the past six years as assistant superintendent for the school corporation. He will replace superintendent Dr. Larry Crabb, who announced his retirement this year.

April 16 1977

    Michele Marie Leffler, 9, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy C. Leffler, Rt. 3, Box 58, Syracuse, won honorable mention in a national photographic contest sponsored by Camp Fire Girls and Eastman Kodak Co. Michele is a member of the Wa-Da-Ya-Ki Camp Fire Council. A third-grader at Syracuse Elementary, she has been active in Camp Fire for three years.

April 16 1952

    Warsaw's Municipal Airport, located 2-1/2 miles north and 1/4 mile east of Road 15, became one of the first airports in the state to be certificated by the state aeronautics commission as an "approved" airport.

Manager Joe Carlin received an engraved certificate from the aeronautics commission of Indiana, listing Warsaw Municipal Airport as an "A-2 airport," which means that it is equipped for both night and day flying, has adequate runways and safety facilities for planes, pilots and spectators.

April 16 1927

    Ed M. Bratt, who has worked for W.B. Yost for 28 years and who is now out of employment, is starting in the cigar business for himself. He will make the Special 5-cent cigars, Bratt's Liner 7 cents or three for 20 cents, Sumatra or Broad Leaf wrapper, also select, 10 cents. They will all be first class cigars. Bratt asks the support of the business men and the people in general.
