Warsaw farrier Matt Gillis won first place in live shoeing and was high point winner in Division 1 forging classes at the horseshoeing and forging contest held last weekend in Indianapolis.
James E. Rice, Leesburg, recently received the Chase S. Osborn Wildlife Conservation Award from Charles M. Kirkpatrick, professor of wildlife management. Rice, executive secretary of the Indiana Conservation Council Inc., was cited for his efforts to promote conservation education. The certificate and $300 cash award were presented during a recent forestry and natural resources awards banquet.
Dee Kinch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Kinch, of 713 E. Market St., received her cap in a ceremony held recently at the South Bend First Christian Church. Kinch is a student at the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and received her cap upon completion of a six-month pre-clinical training period. She is a graduate of Warsaw High School and recently was selected secretary of the freshman class at the hospital.
The following members of the Warsaw High School basketball team were awarded sweaters at an assembly meeting of the high school: Lowell Ohmart, Lynn Pierce and Earl Shaffer. Charles Nichols, Wayne Outcelt, Dan Perry and Paul (Ludd) Thomas received letters. A sweater also was awarded to Robert Manager, basketball manager.
