    Kris Cultice's memories of sixth grade have faded slightly with time, but one aspect hasn't.

A pen pal friendship, developed over the course of 15 years that began as a sixth-grade project in North Manchester, became much clearer this month for Cultice when she had a reunion of sorts with Carole Otterson, Scotland, who was touring the United States.

    Kosciusko County Democrat Women, Opal Miller and Esther Charleton, attended the Indiana Federation of Democrat Women's annual spring conference held April 1-2 at Indianapolis.

Workshops covered subjects on campaign strategy, election law updates and precinct politics.

    Max Stackhouse, a senior at Warsaw High School, was named winner of the Rotary district speech contest, held during the Syracuse Club's regular meeting.

April 14 1928

    In a list of names of Citizens Military Training Camp candidates from the state of Indiana who excelled in competitive tests at Fort Benjamin Harrison during 1927, a Kosciusko County young man heads the list as high score in rifle marksmanship - John Sanford Chapman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Chapman. For highest score with the military rifle, Chapman was awarded a silver medal. Chapman enrolled for the camp last year while attending Leesburg High School. He is this year a student of Warsaw High School.
