    Warsaw Community High School's boys' soccer team opened its season with a victory as it beat visiting South Bend Clay 1-0 Friday afternoon. The lone goal of the game was scored by Warsaw's Derek Cunningham.

    A former Claypool United Methodist Church pastor and retired Army officer has made religious publishing history in becoming the first author to have three books on religious best seller lists simultaneously.

Lt. Col. Merlin R. Carothers is author of "Prison to Praise," "Power in Praise" and "Answers to Praise," all published by Logos International.

    Syracuse High School's annual spring band concert jammed all seating capacity in the big high school auditorium. In addition, the event was highlighted by a baton twirling exhibition by South Bend experts and instructors Merle Smith and Dick Miller.

April 14 1923

    Two chicks attached to the same yolk in a single egg were found by Mrs. Montgomery Hoover, residing southwest of Wabash, while looking at eggs under a setting hen. She removed the shell and preserved the two chicks.
