More than 30 teens and coaches attended the Teen Bible Quiz at the Winona Lake Free Methodist Church. It was the largest Bible Quiz event in the denomination on a regional basis. Seventy-three teams participated in quizzing.
Warren R. Campbell, president of the Winona Action Group presented the "Outstanding Citizen Award" to Mrs. Marty Taft during a recent meeting held at the fire station. Mrs. Taft is a member of the Winona Lake Park Board, and is active in the Bloodmobile program, the Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels and other projects including the paper drives, clean-up day and planning for the Bicentennial program.
Ed Plummer, of Warsaw, and his partner, Gordon Butterbaugh, of near Sidney, were crowned "domino kings" following their winning championship match against Jim Ladd and Carl Daugherty, both of Warsaw. Plummer and Butterbaugh won 13 games to their opponents' 10.
High waters in this vicinity were nearing the flood mark here today (April 8). Center Lake was out of its banks, flooding the city park and surrounding the city park bathing beach bathhouses and threating to overflow the North Buffalo Street pavement. Tippecanoe river cut-off was overflowing the bridge which leads to the Kincaide farm just northwest of Warsaw. The Warsaw-Leesburg road, two miles north of Warsaw near the Missionary farm south of Lem See's, was threatened with rising waters on both sides, which appeared likely to break over the road soon.
