The Pierceton Town Council welcomed aboard the newest member of its police department during the regular council meeting. Office Trevor Griffith was congratulated by town council president Ron Hall. Griffith graduated from the academy last month.

Mary Smoker, Warsaw, again takes the blue ribbon with Banana Split Dessert. Jean Hansbrough, Warsaw, placed second with Strawberry Vanilla Pudding and Michelle Terrill, Warsaw, received third with Secret Cheese Cake (which is no longer a secret).

John Kinsey won the "21" basketball tourney, one of three annual contests being held this week at Baker Boys' Club in conjunction with National Boy's Club Week.
Kinsey defeated John Davis in the finals, 21-19, 21-20 and 21-15. In semi-final play, Kinsey ousted Bill Hudson and Davis eliminated Hugh Siefken.

The fifth week in the assessing of property in Kosciusko County shows that this is the leading poultry county in Indiana.
According to reports just tabulated in the 16 townships of the county, there is a total of 13,902 dozen poultry valued at $82,565. Poultry is assessed on an average value of $6 a dozen.
