    BOURBON - Triton Elementary first-grade teacher Norma Montgomery has been named the Educator of the Year for 1995 for the American Legion Third District of Indiana.

A Bourbon resident, Montgomery has been an elementary teacher for 34 years, 26 at Triton.

    Penny Johnston, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Johnston, of Pierceton, has been selected to be a finalist in the 1980 Indiana Miss Teen-USA Pageant, to be held in November at the Sheraton West, Indianapolis.


50 Years Ago

April 11 1955

    Seven Bourbon High School students have roles in the Bourbon junior-senior class play, "Room for One More," a three-act comedy to be presented in the Bourbon High School gymnasium. They are Joyce Wagoner, Jane Lozier, Jane Singer, Emily Brock, Dick Wagoner, Phyllis Cook and Vada Scott.

April 11 1930

    The Live Wires of the Brethren Church met at the home of Robert Baker for their first meeting. Officers were elected as follows: president, Ralph Bibler; vice president, Robert Robbins; secretary and treasurer, Robert Baker. Games were enjoyed throughout the evening. Prizes were won by Edward Warren and Ralph Bibler.
