    Johnna Phillips, daughter of Rickey and Martha Phillips, Mentone, has been named a United States Achievement Academy award winner in science.

Phillips, who attends Mentone Jr. High School, was nominated for the award by Michelle DeBaets, her science teacher. Her name will appear in the U.S. Achievement Academy Official Yearbook, published nationally.

    The month of March serves as IHSFA speech tourney time, and recent competition led to many local honors.

Warsaw Community High School students winning honors at the sectional, regional and state speech contests were: Franky Butler, Missy Lichtenwalter, Paige Mock, Angie Huffer, Kitsy Grable, Brian Scott and Randy Clinker. Their coach is Becky White.

    Mrs. Stanley Kintzel and Mrs. Dale Fawley, of Warsaw, and Mrs. Willodean Ingalls, Claypool, were at Camp McMillan, north of Fort Wayne, recently for a Girl Scout leader's training course in overnight camping.

April 10 1927

    The Kosciusko Rifle Club was represented at the state shoot held at the Culver Military Academy by David Hoffer, Mont Harmon, George Mowery, Houton C. Frazer and Ora Stamper. The club's pistol team won second place in the state shoot. The .45 calibre pistol re-entry match was won by George Mowery, with a perfect score.
