The Whitko FFA Alumni Banquet is Sept. 18 in Eberly’s Hall. All former FFA alumni and agriculture teachers from the Whitko School Corp. (Larwill, Pierceton, South Whitley) are invited. Featured speaker is Nels Ackerson, Washington, D.C. law firm. He grew up on a dairy, corn and soybean farm in central Indiana near Westfield and became national president of the FFA as a youngster.
KC Depot was landscaped as an Eagle Scout project organized by Scout Thomas Friddle, Warsaw. Executive Director Sue Studebaker said several companies donated items for the project.

The Tri-Kappa Follies will be Sept. 22-23 at Warsaw Community High School. Pam Butts and Cathy Suchecki, chairwomen of the event, call the kick-off party Tuesday at Stonehenge Golf Club a “community party” that is open to everyone.
Warsaw Chamber president Deb Wiggins said the chamber has received the new updated city maps from the printer and they are available at the office.
Indiana University Chancellor Herman Wells, 87, came to Warsaw last week to visit his old frat buddy, Ernest Byrer, the first time they’d been together in 65 years. They were in the Sigma Nu fraternity at I.U. along with the late Harry Hall, Warsaw Hardware store owner.

There were 127 children enrolled in Summer Reading Club at the Bourbon Public Library. Nelson Cook, Lions Club, showed films and cartoons on loan from the South Bend Library. Popsicles and balloons were given to those present. Reading the most books were Tammie Carter, Debra Duff, Marilyn Meinert, Larry and Allan Sellers, Kim Faulkner, Bradley Beagle, Kathie Dennie, Jamie Wanamacher and Kathy Ooley.
Certificates in advanced beginners’ swimming lessons taught by Betty Stier, Warsaw, were given to Mike Keiter, Hal Hossler, John Kubacki, Tonna Linn, Peter Rantz, Tammy Linn, Debbie Shoemaker, Terry Neer, Elizabeth Downs, Lisa Rood and Kristy Berlin. The program completed the summer swimming lessons at the Charles Cone pool in Pierceton.

The Marion College Gospel Messengers Male Quartet will have charge of the music at the Camp Mack Young Friends Conference from June 26 to 29 on Wabee Lake near Milford.
Warsaw’s Dr. J.M. Byler, 92, remarked that the late Willis Boggess, 82, was a pupil of his at a school in Prairie Township in the 1870s.
Roy Bowen’s name was expected to be certified by the civil service commission to the president and sent to the senate for confirmation as Warsaw’s new postmaster.
