The City-County Athletic Complex will receive $185,000 in Build Indiana Funds soon for a parking lot paving project. Although the awards were announced last spring, the General Assembly’s State Budget Committee has held the funding following a review of the awards. Friday, more than $7 million was freed for several projects. Build Indiana money comes from state gaming revenues, such as the lottery and riverboat gambling and is applied toward capital projects.

Warsaw Middle School art teacher Sherry Sprouls recently received a $200 first prize in the “Alterations” Art Show at South Bend’s Century Center. Mrs. Sprouls, a seventh-grade teacher, received the award at Warner Gallery in a juried show, sponsored by the Indiana Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the art. Her work was titled “Artists Just Wanna Have Fun” and described as an “assemblage”.

Dennis L. Plummer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Plummer, of Atwood, graduated Aug. 31 from the professional accounting school of International College, Fort Wayne, with an associate BVSC degree. He was an honor graduate. Plummer was valedictorian of the Class of 1959 at Atwood High School where he was active in dramatics.

Mrs. Wilda Babbitt, owner and manager of Swiss Terrace Hotel at Winona Lake, recently left for her home in Indianapolis. Her son, Earl Campbell, will remain for another month and keep the hotel open for the accommodation of guests.
