    Lowell Dobbs, of Pierceton, proudly displayed the 43-inch, 17-pound muskie he caught while bass fishing in Webster Lake on Aug. 23. He caught the fish on light tackle using a 4-inch Renegade plastic worm. It only took Dobbs approximately 10 minutes to land the fish. He was aided in the catch by his wife, Betty, who manned the landing net.

    Mike Purcell accepts the Garber Baseball Award from Curtis "Gabby" Garber. The award, named in honor of the late Avery "Pat" Garber, has been given annually for more than 20 years to a player in the Warsaw Community Baseball Program who displays leadership, good attitude and all-around ability. Purcell, who was four times a Little League all-star and twice a Pony League star, is the son of Harry and Jean Purcell.

    Pvt. Douglas Copeland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Copeland, Route 4, has started an eight-week course at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.

Doug will be trained for a job with the motor detail.

    A light frost was experienced on lowlands of Kosciusko County early today, according to reports reaching this city. The mercury dropped below 40 degrees in some parts of the county.
