Sept 4 Ivy Tech State College will unveil its new Warsaw campus to the public Sept. 10, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. and an open house from noon to 6 p.m. The new campus is in the United Office Complex on Lake City Highway. Gerald I. Lamkin, president of Ivy Tech State College, will be the featured speaker at the ribbon cutting ceremony. Tours of the new campus, drawings for free continuing education classes, a display of Ivy Tech’s mobile welding instruction center and refreshments will highlight the open house. 25 Years Ago Boy Scout troop 819 recently returned from a canoe trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Northern Minnesota near Ely. The canoe area is a restricted area and permits must be obtained before entering the area. Scouts making the trip were Brian Davison, Joe McGrath, Mike Brickner, Jason Tucker, Dan Hatch, Josh Barker, Kent Dresch. Adults making the trip were Jim Doyle, Carl Barker and Dan Hatch. 50 Years Ago Mrs. Raymond (Virginia) Zuck ended a 13-year newspaper career with The Times-Union. The mother of three married sons - and a grandmother - Mrs. Zuck plans to study at Grace College and, as she put it, “stay home and catch up on my household chores.” For the past years several Mrs. Zuck has been at the head of The Times-Union women’s page department. 75 Years Ago Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Long, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Remy, Miss Joy Louise Long, Rex Remy and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fields will leave for Indianapolis where they will be guest performers at the W.L.S. National Barn Dance Saturday night at the state fair.
