Harry and Carolyn Knauff, of the Ke Shook Co To Qua, Eastern Woodland Indian Living History Group, and Bernard and Carol Cook recently worked on building an authentic Indian wigwam in the "Living history corner" at Harrison Elementary as a class watched. The idea for the wigwam originated last year with Harrison fourth-grade teacher Cindy Nash, and Harrison Principal Randy Polston learned of the Knauffs through the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians in Michigan.

Pat DiRico received the Warsaw Community Baseball League Garber Award from Times-Union senior editor Curtis "Gabby" Garber during the league's annual Watermelon. DiRico, in his seventh and final season as a participant in the minor, major and pony league programs, was honored as the league's top player in skills and sportsmanship. The award is named in honor of the late Avery "Pat" Garber, longtime Warsaw Park Superintendent and a key leader in the development of the city's summer recreation program.

Thursday, Aug. 31 was an eventful day for Mrs. Wilma Ensminger Thomas, of Irish Lake, one of four 1911 graduates of the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Indianapolis, who were  honored at its golden anniversary celebration and commencement. She and her classmates, two from Indianapolis and one from California, toured the hospital, exchanged reminiscences, were interviewed by reporters, appeared on television programs, were feted at luncheon and dinner, and sat on the dais with other distinguished guests during the commencement service for 1961 graduates.

Mr. and Mrs. Lester Yeiter and son and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Anglin, son, Carl, and daughter, Louise, of Clunette, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Beatty of Leesburg, are among those who attended the state fair at Indianapolis recently.
