Papa John's Pizza restaurants in the Warsaw area have awarded four students each a $1,000 college scholarship to the college of their choice. Winners include seniors from Angola, Warsaw, Waterloo and Wabash. A surprise "pizza party team" made the delivery to each school.
A homeless, beat-up chicken was seen walking down the sidewalk on North Detroit Street recently and took refuge in the library barberry bushes. It was rescued by Warsaw Community Public Library bookkeeper Barb Patterson and the Kosciusko County Humane Society was called. Obviously inspired by the bookish sanctuary, the chicken honored the library with an egg. The mother and egg were removed later that day.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Thomas, Warsaw, spent the holiday weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bilz, former Warsawans, who now live at Dexter, Mo.
The regular weekly meeting of the Tippecanoe Country Club was held with Mrs. White of Winona Lake as hostess. Following the 1 o'clock luncheon, seven tables of bridge progressed, with Mrs. C. E. Brown of Dewart Lake winning first prize for high score, Mrs. Ralph Teeter of Wawasee Lake, second, and Mrs. E. K. Shira of Winona Lake, guest prize.
