    Harrison Elementary students celebrate the finish to a successful fundraiser recently by turning their principal, Randy Polston, into a "human hot dog." The top student sellers of 32,000 candy bars took part dousing Polston with ketchup, mustard, relish, onions and flour. The money raised will go to uniforms, assembly programs and other activities.

    DeWayne Barker and Randy Woodling were crowned track champions and Denny England, Randy Woodling, and Bill Nichols found themselves taking home first-place trophies for their feature victories in the season championships at the Warsaw Speedway.


50 Years Ago

September 28 1959

    United Telephone Company's recent stunt to promote direct long-distance dialing perhaps set a world's record for distance for a disk jockey interview. Using the 49th state as terminal point, The Four Freshmen were interviewed at Lake Tippecanoe by Bob Platt, of Keni in Anchorage, Alaska. The Four Freshmen are rather well known here. Hal Kratzsch, from Warsaw, was one of the original Freshmen. Bill Wagner, also from Warsaw is now manager of the group.

    Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Lafler, son Billie, and daughter Josephine will leave for Chicago, where they will attend the wedding of Miss Marjorie Finch. The will also visit A Century of Progress Exposition.
