    INDIANAPOLIS - The Times-Union advertising department received four awards at the Hoosier State Press Association's annual Advertising Ideas Conference at the Omni Severin Hotel in Indianapolis.

John Kirkpatrick and Pamela Harrell received first-place awards for Merry Maids and Stage. Paul Smith received a third-place award for Mutual Federal Savings Bank and Bill Hays received an honorable mention award for Petro's GM Showplace.

    AUBURN - Warsaw Christian School won its fourth soccer match in as many tries with a 10-0 conquest of Faith Christian recently.

Corey Rose scored four goals and Chad Shipley added two. Getting one each were Brian Elliott, Kent Hoppas, Jeff Penner and Greg Teghtmeyer. WCS outshot its opponent, 19-3.

    A small, checkered adder, about 12 inches long, was found on the Frederick Gilliam farm near Warsaw. Considered rather rare in the United States, they are nonpoisonous, usually grow to about 3 feet in length.

    Through the courtesy of William J. Chinworth, of the Chinworth & Oram Co., a new Majestic superheterodyne nine-tube radio has been installed at the Republican headquarters in The Times building. The "boys" no doubt will greatly appreciate this courtesy extended by Mr. Chinworth.
