So far the only patches on the new district executive’s uniform are the U.S. flag on the right shoulder and one depicting the Anthony Wayne Area Council on the left. “I haven’t had time to sew them all on,” said Cora Ruth Northrop, who was hired as the district executive for the Boy Scouts of America about a month ago. Northrop, 26, replaces Nick Christine, who accepted a forestry position in New Jersey.

    Led by winning four of five titles, Warsaw won its sixth-consecutive Northern Lakes Conference tennis title Saturday at Plymouth. The Tigers easily won first with 50 points. Concord took second with 30 points and were followed by Plymouth (26), Bremen (22), Goshen (12), Wawasee (11), NorthWood (9) and Northridge (2). In addition to the Tigers being named NLC champions, the squad also dominated the all-conference team. All seven Warsaw players were named to the team.

  Principal William Davis of Warsaw Community High School announced that two seniors have been named semi-finalists in the 1962-63 Merit Scholarship competition. The students cited for their high achievement are Kerry Smith and Tony Van Osdol. Kerry is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Smith, Warsaw. Tony is the son of Mrs. Marjorie Van Osdol, Warsaw.

    Warsaw was well represented recently at Covington Downs horse show at Fort Wayne by prize-winning Shetland ponies from Major Carl Beyer’s stock farm, Warsaw. The four entries, Major, Dottie, John and Rex, were ridden in the show by Lois Mae Carlile, Donald Dalton, Brooks Dalton and Roy Carlile. The children are all expert in the saddle.
