    Electric cooperatives in this area, including the Kosciusko County REMC, are assuring customers that they will be ready for 2000. In fact, Touchstone Energy¨ cooperatives in Indiana have been working for more than two years to ensure the power will continue to flow on Jan. 1.

The cooperatives are referring to the widely publicized Y2K problem, when many computer systems and devices that have not been corrected may fail to recognize the date as 2000 begins.

    Winning backpacks in the Muscular Dystrophy Skate-A-Thon at Eastlake Skate Center were Mindy Shepherd, 8, Warsaw, and Pamela Pitts, 16, Warsaw.

As the first-place winner, Mindy received a new pair of roller skates, five free skating passes, one patch and one backpack. As the third-place winner, Pamela received a windbreaker, a patch and a backpack. In this year's skate-a-thon, local youngsters raised a total of $467.45. The youths will present the money to Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Tele-A-Thon officials at Channel 33, Fort Wayne.

September 24 1959

    Mrs. and Mrs. Cloyce Eherenman, of Warsaw, were honored on their 35th wedding anniversary at a dinner given by their children in the Hobo Ranch House at Fort Wayne. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hall and daughter, of Milford, the James Smith and Robert Eherenman families and Miss Judy Eherenman, all of Warsaw.

September 24 1934

    Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ruse and daughters, Wilma, Janice and Dona Marie, returned to their home on East Main Street, after spending the past week in Knoxville, Tenn., with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Goss and the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ruse. Mrs. Goss is Mr. Ruse's sister.
