The Lake Theatre, northwest corner of Buffalo and Main streets, opened its doors in 1952. The final remnants of the interior have been removed, allowing workers to begin construction of a Zimmer building planned for corporate housing; the base structure of the theatre will be used and a third level will be added. The project is estimated to reach completion in mid-2006. The seats, projectors, popcorn machine and other large movie equipment were removed by the previous owner before Zimmer purchased the building. From what was left, very little was thrown away. Employees have bought movie reels, posters and the large LAKE letters.

Wilma Yoder makes Amish dolls, which are so in demand that she can barely keep up with her orders. She makes 350-400 faceless, jointed cloth dolls a season, 24 at a time, in her  home on CR 1000W, north of Ind. 19, south of Nappanee. The dolls are cut out, then stitched on a treadle sewing machine. Her youngest daughter, Margaret, turns the tiny arms and legs right side out for stuffing. In the seven years she's been making dolls, Yoder estimates 2,000 have passed through her sewing room. Each of her dolls is signed and dated. Yoder has a store behind her house, “Your Handmade Hobbey Shoppe,” featuring a variety of craft items made by the ladies of her church. Her father-in-law, Eli Yoder, sells crocheted area rugs through the small store.
