    MENTONE - Neighbors helping neighbors is a foundation block of American society. Recently that community spirit was very evident at the Mentone home of Mitch and Pam Hunsberger.

The Hunsbergers were forced from their home in Mentone when the rear wall of their basement collapsed last July. After nearly two months of trying to get the mess cleaned up and determining a way to pay for the repairs, friends, coworkers and good samaritans came to the Hunsbergers' aid Saturday.

    After 48 years as a golfer, Wayne Smith scored his first hole-in-one at Rozella Ford Golf Club when he aced the No. 5, 186-yard hole with a No. 4 wood. His playing partners were Ralph Henderson, John and Andy Hoffer and John Pinkerton.

September 22 1958

    Marine Pfc. Donald R. Cooley, son of Esther Cooley, Rochester, is participating in the year's largest West Coast amphibious landing exercises with the 1st Marine division from Camp Pendleton, Calif. The exercise, utilizing troop-carrying helicopters, will end soon.

September 22 1933

    Several Warsawans motored recently to Mishawaka, where they attended inspection of the Walkerton and Mishawaka chapters of the Order of Eastern Star. Among those attending from this city were: Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dewart, Gertrude Cook, Hazel Uplinger, Mildred Smith, Mrs. Paul Landis, Penelope Shoup and Violet Lehew.
