The Hurricanes recently won the 1997 Leesburg Summer Recreation League Girls Fastpitch Softball tournament. Winners are Ashley Kindle, Racheal Busz, Tara Martin, Melanie Archer, Jennifer Kinney, Kayla Hickman, Ashley Goon, Sky Nappier, Heather Walenga, Shana Bussard, Megan Moody and Nicki Becker. They were coached by Rose Kindle and Janet Kinney.
Kosciusko County Volunteer Firemen honored at an awards dinner include Harold Barker, Pierceton, service award; John Irwin, Burket, Fireman of the Year; Howard Swihart, Silver Lake, 50 years of service; and John Huff, Burket, outgoing Kosciusko County Firemen's Association president after eight years.
Roba Lee and Randa Lou Schori, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schori, of Bourbon, are winners of the "Robinhood" reading contest sponsored by the Bourbon Public Library this summer. Each girl read 105 books.
R.C. Hobbs, linetype operator of The Warsaw Daily Times, brought to this office a branch filled with apple blossoms and which was taken from a tree near Lake-of-the-Woods, not far from Bremen, early this morning. The tree is filled with blooms, according to Hobbs.
