10 Years Ago The 2005 Homes On Parade will be at Barrington Hills, a new development between CR's 350N and 100E, Sept. 10-18. Joni Truex, executive officer for the Builder's Association of Kosciusko-Fulton County, said 187 homes were built and 26 builder companies have participated over the past 19 years. The first tour was in 1986 at Country Club Highlands; second, at Walnut Creek in 1987; next year, 1988, the tour was held at Timberidge, with Carol Huffer as the first executive officer; 1989, Stonehenge; 1990 and 1992, The Dells; 1991, Patterson Place; 1993, Brookshire Village; 1994, Meadows; 1995 and 1996, Woodfield Manor; 1997 and 2000, Deed's Creek; 1998 and 2001, Heritage Lake Park; 1999, Hunter's Ridge; 2002, Pheasant Ridge; 2003, Shadow Lake; 2004, back to Pheasant Ridge, Huffer's last Parade, announcing her upcoming retirement. 25 Years Ago Jennifer Mithoefer, daughter of Dan and Loretta Mithoefer, Claypool, exhibited 10 animals in the dairy show at the Indiana State Fair, earning six first place awards, three second and one seventh. She won an award for being the premier exhibitor in Kosciusko County and placed second in showmanship. She is a nine-year member of Claypool Classics 4-H Club. Warsaw's chapter of Gold Wing Road Riders' Association, Lake City Wings, is hosting a five-state gathering of Honda enthusiasts (Region D Rally) at the fairgrounds Friday through Sunday, Sept. 7-9. An organized trek to antique shops in Sidney, Pierceton and Silver Lake will be held Saturday. Soda jerk Nancy Spore of The Old Drug Store in downtown Silver Lake serves an old-fashioned soda to run organizer Rick Newell. 50 Years Ago Nancy Moser and her horse, Prince, practice for the second annual Shady Brook Riding Stable Horse Show Sunday, Aug. 29. Mrs. Janet Antas, of Michigan, will be the judge. The show is open to children taking lessons at the stable, CR 225 South. They defeated Pilcher's this week, 8-6. 75 Years Ago The Times-Union carrier softball team administered a 10 to 3 defeat to the Columbia City Post and Mail team at the city softball diamond here Friday afternoon, July 19. Bud Perkins, first baseman for The Times-Union aggregation, provided the heavy stickwork by blasting out three hits in as many trips to the plate. Warsaw took the lead in the second inning by scoring four runs, added another in the third and made the game safe by staging a five-run assault in the sixth. Kehoe and Brindle formed the winning battery for The Times-Union newsboys. Columbia City scored one run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning for their total.
