     It’s no wonder Rex’s Rendezvous, Warsaw, was named Kosciusko County’s best local rock bar in this year’s Leisure Reader’s Poll. The business has been breaking local bands for years: CODA, Corporate Circus, Surface, Mad Cow Boys, to name a few. “I’m willing to go out on a limb and try new bands,” said Robin Watters, business owner. He said he’s known a lot of bands through the years and now features their children in bands.

    The city of Warsaw has had 15 acres of land on Arthur Street near Pike Lake donated to be used as a new park. The land, to be named Hire Park in memory of Clifford “Winks” Hire and William Hire, is currently being used as a BMX race track. Those gathered for the announcement were: Warren Ulery, Mrs. William (Marjorie) Hire, Warsaw park board president Graham Rankin, park superintendent Dick Hamman, Warsaw common councilman Bob Richmond and assistant park superintendent Jon Garber.

    Warsaw and Wayne township Teen-Age Republicans stole the show with their banners and German band. More than 50 teenagers made the trip to Rensselaer to see and hear former President Eisenhower address a crowd of 25,000 persons at a Second District GOP rally in honor of Congressman Charles Halleck. More than 400 from Kosciusko County attended the event traveling in buses.

    Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mellencamp returned recently to their home in Warsaw, after spending the weekend at Greencastle with their daughter, Virginia, who is a student at DePauw University.
      Miss Elvira Hartsock has returned to her home after spending several days in Chicago visiting with her sister, Mrs. Tay Hess. On Friday they attended the baseball game between the Cubs and Cardinals at Wrigley Field.
