Judy Snipes of Kosciusko County was recognized as a 1998 Tribute to Women honoree during the Indiana Federation of Republican Women's Dinner recently.
Winona Lake Postmaster Jerry DeTurk presents mail carrier Darlene Wyman with a Special Achievement Award and a check for $300 from the United States Postal Service for her alert actions. Wyman was delivering the mail on Aug. 2, when she noticed that the previous day's mail was not picked up at the home of an elderly lady. She alerted neighbors, who then discovered the lady had fallen the previous day in her home and was unable to get up to summon help.
Fourteen-year-old Janet Palmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Palmer, of Claypool, has been announced winner of the Class Five 4-H Club baking contest at the State Fair. Palmer several weeks ago won a like award at the Kosciusko County Fair.
Mr. and Mrs. Owen Emerick attended A Century of Progress Exposition at Chicago recently.
