   A photograph on the front page of the Times-Union featured a patriotic display of the  9/11 anniversary at the home of Wade and Natalie Himes, Warsaw. The side of their barn was displayed with stars and stripes. A bundle of straw was painted as a flag and was constructed by Tom and Brenda Bauder. Both displays were lighted for night viewing.

    Leesburg’s girls softball team ended the season with an 8-1 record, which was good enough to win the league championship. Members of the Fireflies team were Mandy Bellman, Brandi Kramer, Cammy Minnick, Jenni Ousley, Georgianna Van Scoik, Coach Vicki Zumbrun, Missy Lashe, Holly Hapner, Jenny Kilbourne, Raeanne Van Scoik, Melissa MacAfoose, Sunshine Stambaugh, Kathy Kilbourne and Coach Jackie Van Scoik.

    A trophy was presented to the Mentone poultry judging team at an awards banquet in Indianapolis during the State Fair. This team won the state egg judging contest in competition with 25 teams from various sections of the state. Member of the team were: Morris Bitzer; Fred Horn, who compiled 1,278 points to qualify as second high individual in agriculture judging in the state contest; Bill Kindig, 1,230; Larry East, 1,212; and Eddie Blosser, 1,187.

    Twenty cars drove all about the town recently, blowing their horns, before stopping at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Dunnuck of Warsaw. The occasion was a belling party for Mr. and Mrs. Devoe Leedy, who were recently married. Mrs. Leedy was formerly Doris Dunnuck. More than 40 persons were present and enjoyed the social evening. Refreshments were served.
