 Love Bug Florist, corner of Center and Sherman streets, is Warsaw's newest full service floral shop. Owners Nelda and Marv Love will have 1,500 roses to give away in lots of 12 Wednesday, Sept. 7 during “Good Neighbor Day.” They ask that the blooms be shared with 11 other people to spread goodwill and friendship.
Virginia Ditmer will be 90 Tuesday, Sept. 6. Known as the “Hat Lady,” she was an elementary music teacher in several northern Indiana schools, retiring in 1981 from the Wawasee Community School Corp. Her late husband, Richard, was a real estate and insurance broker in the Syracuse-Wawasee area.

 There has been a busy summer of construction and renovation at Grace College. The two most visible changes to returning students are the new decor, sound and lighting systems of the chapel in McClain Hall and the addition of the student union in Alpha Hall, which replaces The Lamp on Park Avenue. Two classrooms in Philathea Hall have undergone extensive remodeling. Plans for an addition to the art department in Colonial Hall will begin later this fall and be completed in the fall of 1991. Other projects include redecorating Morgan Library, Lancer Lounge, Alpha Lobby, Little Theatre and recarpeting. Ron Henry, director of admissions, expects 700 students in the college this fall and 200 in the Seminary.

Dan Dunkleberger is director and cinematographer for the new one-hour color film, “Without Onion,” being produced by Ken Anderson Films. Producer Doug Ross said nearly the entire movie, to be released Jan. 1, will be filmed in and around Warsaw. Holiday Lanes and many other local businesses have provided their establishments for filming. Ron Aubuchon, Gary, and Lane Anderson have parts; the leads are played by John Washbrook and Bev Washburn, both professional actors from Los Angeles. The group is now attempting to locate an old barn in this vicinity that can be burned.
Cpl. Eldon Werstler and Patrolman Frank Grose help install signs at various city street intersections asking drivers to use caution because children will be going to school.

 American States Insurance Company of Indianapolis will present gold star safety certificates to seven Kosciusko County school bus drivers for completing the year ending June, 1940, without an accident: Wayne Alexander, Harmon Buch, and Jacob Smith, Silver Lake; Milo Howard and Ray Kincaide, Warsaw; Earl Coplen, Burket; and Orval Slife, Claypool.
