10 Years Ago With five-game wins over South Bend Riley and Mishawaka Marian, Warsaw’s varsity volleyball team won the Tiger Spiker Invitational Saturday. The Tigers downed Riley 21-10, 21-12, 15-21, 17-21, 15-9 and then topped Marian 21-19, 21-10, 18-21, 21-23, 17-15. The wins improved the Tigers to 7-4 on the season. Abby Ahlersmeyer finished the tournament with 102 assists. 25 Years Ago Joe Schroeder, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schroeder, was presented the Garber award recently at the annual baseball awards banquet. The award was presented by Curtis Garber, son of the late Avery (Pat) Garber, who started the award. The award has been presented for more than 30 years. Schroeder played little league for four years and played for three different pony league teams. He also was a member of the Warsaw junior varsity baseball team. 50 Years Ago Mayor Paul (Mike) Hodges was to confer with Kosciusko County commissioners today on relocating Ind. 25. The mayor has a commitment from the State Highway Department that the road can be changed from its present location. The proposal is to have Ind. 25 join Ind. 15 south of Warsaw. The highway would join Ind. 15 over CR 100. The removal of the state highway from Warsaw would free West Market Street and West Winona Avenue from the traffic problems at this time, Hodges said. 75 Years Ago Mrs. Ann Hansman, Bessie Ann Mallers and Willie Stokes spent Friday at the Milton Barger residence near Nappanee, where more than 100 men will assist in raising a barn, which was destroyed during the recent cyclone. David Rankin went to Lafayette recently where he has enrolled as a student at Purdue University. For the past two weeks Rankin has been employed at the Warsaw Laundry Company.
