September 10 1999

    Katie Grossnickle and her horse "Shot To The Top," recently won the All-Around Novice Youth Award at the state quarter horse show in Indianapolis. The three-day event took place at the Marion County Fairgrounds. Grossnickle and "Ziggy" won five out of the possible seven circuit awards to capture the all-around title for the show. Grossnickle and "Shot To The Top" have been showing together for two years under the guidance of Jim Gardner, New Paris. She will be in the seventh grade at Lakeview this fall and is the daughter of Steve and Lori Grossnickle.

September 10 1984

    Warsaw teacher Phil Krieg received a letter this week from President Reagan, as a follow-up to Krieg's White House visit last month where he was honored as National MS Father of the Year. Reagan congratulated Krieg and told him he exemplified "the highest values" of the American citizen and parent.


50 Years Ago

September 10 1959

    A former Kosciusko County resident and graduate of Beaver Dam High School has been chosen to represent Fulton County teachers at the State Fair in September. Martha Shireman, home economics teacher at Akron high school, will represent Fulton County. She will vie with 91 other teachers in the state for a $500 vacation trip.


September 10 1934

    The last obstacle to the immediate paving of North Lake Street, the Lincoln Highway, from Center Street to the city limits, by the federal government, has been removed.

Work was held up because the Gafill Oil Co. was dissatisfied with the award of the city council but the new plans are acceptable to this company so work can be commenced at once.
