Led by match medalist Erin Elliott, Warsaw’s varsity girls golf team upped its record to 3-0 with a win over Bishop Luers recently at Rozella Ford. Elliott shot a 39 as the Tigers won 184-194. Also for Warsaw, Katie Manning shot a 47, Abby Schori and Kristina Bonahoom, 49, and Dayna Ridderman, 52.

Former Wawasee High School basketball coach John Wyson is bridging the gap between high school and college in a literal way. Wyson, whose five-year stint at the Syracuse-Milford-North Webster consolidation produced one sectional and one Northern Lakes conference championship, will be teaching at Warsaw High School and assuming additional duties as assistant basketball coach at Grace College.

James Cooney, engineer – announcer for radio stations WRSW AM and FM, has returned from a vacation visit with his mother and other relatives in New York City. Cooney saw his baseball favorites, the Yankees, in four games.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kreamer, Warsaw, are expected home soon from Colorado Springs, Colo., where they’ve been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Orville Berven and family.

That Kosciusko County is experiencing the second worst drought in 50 years, at least in some sections, is shown by the fact that lakes of the county are at a low level and outlets from these lakes have gone dry. Center Lake is 18 inches below normal level and Pike Lake is 15 inches below its normal level on account of continued dry weather, City Engineer Don H. Lessig said. Water is still flowing, to some extent, through the canal between Pike and Center Lakes, which freshens the Warsaw and Winona Lake water supply.
