    Marine Lance Cpl. Timothy Miller, son of Kirby and Linda Miller of Nappanee, recently received the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal.

The medal recognizes Miller's honest and faithful service during a three-year period. To earn it, Miller achieved and maintained a satisfactory level of performance and an unblemished conduct record for the entire period.

    POTPOURRI - Word has it our erstwhile downtown cigar store and eatery will be the subject of a piece on NBC Nightly News in the near future. Seems the folks from back east are doing a series traveling along U.S. 30 from New Jersey to Oregon, and Breading's fits the bill as a place to stop.

The rumor going around that the network was reviewing all five-star restaurants in the area is false. And citizens are asked to urge Burleigh Burgh not to dish out any of his culinary specialities to the likes of Douglas Kiker ... the series could end before it makes the Illinois state line.

    Preparations are complete for Warsaw's conversion to automatic dial telephone service, according to local telephone officials who express confidence that cut-over will be accomplished smoothly and with little interruption in service.

Edward Moeschinger, United Telephone Co. engineer, indicated that all telephone service in the Warsaw exchange necessarily would be cut off from 1:45 until the 2:01 a.m. deadline, giving local telephone personnel and Stromberg-Carlson technicians an opportunity to make the final connections which will place the new dial equipment in operation.
